There is a wealth of information online for those of us who are looking for a more sustainable lifestyle.  Today we'll take a look at a few of the resources that are available:

DSIRE1) If you are considering installinga renewable energy source for your home or making energy efficient home improvements, your first stop shoud be DSIRE (http://www.dsireusa.org/).  DSIRE stands fro Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency and provides up to date information on government money for these projects.    DSIRE is a project of the North Carolina Solar Center and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.   The database is current and comprehensive.  The site allows you to easily find your state and review program availability, rules and regulations.  It also does a great job of outlining available federal programs.

2)  GreenandSave.com is aGreenandSave local company based in Wayne, PA.  They have a number of things going including a killer website full of great green material.  Here you'll find a great Q&A section, tons of great consumer-oriented articles on all sorts of green topics, and a neat ROI guide to help you figure out how long it will take to recoup the cost of a green home improvement.  GreenandSave is also home to the ECOAcademy, specializing in classrrom-based Home Energy Efficiency programs leading to work as a Home Energy consultant.

3) Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Energy Star certifies products via strict EPA and DEP guidelines assuring that they are energy efficient.  Purchasing Energy Star appliances and other products can go a long way towards energy savings for consumers and businesses.  This website gives you access to a searchable database of certified products and also discusses guidelines for tax credits for energy efficiency.
