Biomass

Biomass  is defined as a renewable energy source derived from plants and animals.   Biomass is organic material which can be burned to generate electricity.     When burned, the chemical energy in biomass is released as heat.  Types of biomass include wood, crops, garbage, landfill gas and alcohol fuels.  Biomass can also be converted to other usable forms of energy such as methane gas, ethanol and biodiesel.
